This is the recipe which caused me to start this blog. For the past four months of my vegan adventure, I have followed other’s recipes. Following directions has never been my strong suit, so creating my own recipes is the perfect solution!
These sweet potato burgers are delicious and easy!My father eats meat every day, and he loved them. Pretty cool, right? Sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotene and fiber, so these are burgers you can feel good about enjoying!

Here’s the recipe:
- 2 sweet potatoes, shredded
- 1/4 C finely chopped onion
- 1/2 C ground flax seed (optional, but decreases dehydrating time)
- 1/2 C favorite vegan BBQ sauce
- 1/2 C button mushrooms
- 1 Tb soy sauce
Mix sweet potato, onion, and flax seed. Set aside. Blend walnuts, mushrooms, soy sauce, and BBQ sauce until smooth and pasty. Mix all ingredients together, (don’t be afraid to use your hands). Dehydrate in the oven at lowest setting for 4-6 hours, or until color has darkened. Flip about halfway through.
Serve on your favorite burger bun and add toppings, if desired. Happy eating!
A quick update on my music! Next Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, I am playing in my school’s piano recital. The piece I’ve been working on is Chopin’s “Nocturne in C Minor.” It is the most challenging piece I’ve ever played. Though I’m not a piano major, it is encouraging to know that with a lot of hard work, I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. You can too!
